Emma Biggin Therapy is committed to complying with the terms of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) made on 27th April 2016, and to the responsible and secure use of your personal data.

Emma Biggin Therapy has a legitimate interest in processing personal data in order to provide psychotherapy and counselling services.

The purpose of this statement is to let clients know what personal information Emma Biggin Therapy collects and holds, why I collect this data, how long it is kept and their rights over personal data. I reserve the right to modify this privacy policy at any time, so please review it frequently. Changes and modifications will take effect immediately upon their posting on the website. If I make material changes to this policy, I will notify clients here that it has been updated, so that they are aware of what information I collect, how I use it, and under what circumstances, if any, we use and/or disclose it.

 Emma Biggin Therapy is registered with the ICO (Information Commissioners Office).

 

Information about clients

I collect personal information from clients when they enquire about my services in order to set up an initial session. This information includes contact details, availability and other relevant personal information. Once clients finish counselling, all data regarding their counselling is stored securely for seven years and then destroyed.

 

Use of this information

Your personal information will be used only to provide you with my service and to give you information relating to my service. I will not share your personal details with any other person or organization without your knowledge and permission, unless there is a legal requirement, if there is a child or adult safeguarding issue, or a perceived risk of harm. A breach of confidentiality is when a person shares information with another in circumstances where it is reasonable to expect that the information be kept confidential.

 

Security

This website is hosted on the squarespace.com platform. Squarespace.com provides me with the online platform  that allows me to market my services to you. Your data may be stored through squarespace.com’s data storage, databases and the general squarespace.com applications. They store your data on secure servers behind a firewall.

I will take all reasonable precautions to prevent the loss, misuse or alteration of information you give me. Electronic files stored containing personal data are additionally password protected.

It is understood that any form of remote contact isn’t one hundred per cent secure but reasonable steps are taken to minimize risk. Email, unless encrypted is not a fully secure means of communication. While I try to keep our communications protected against viruses and other harmful effects, I cannot bear responsibility for all communications being virus-free.

 

Your rights over your private data

If you have any concerns about my use of your data, would like to see the information I hold about you, or would like to correct, update or delete any records, please ask or email me. I will do my utmost to resolve any concerns you may have, but if these are not resolved to your satisfaction, you may choose to contact the ICO.
